As Deepak Srivastava celebrates two remarkable decades at Gladstone, we revisit key career milestones and look forward to the future he continues to shape.

Twenty years ago was a momentous time in the history of Gladstone Institutes—a turning point that has taken the organization to where it is today.

First, Gladstone Institutes relocated from scattered offices at San Francisco General Hospital to a brand new, nearly 200,000-square-foot building in the Mission Bay neighborhood. The move, in 2005, brought together researchers from across scientific disciplines, leading to increased collaboration and continued growth.

Six months later, Gladstone marked another significant development: Deepak Srivastava, MD, joined as a senior investigator and director of the Gladstone Institute of Cardiovascular Disease. Srivastava later was also named director of the Roddenberry Stem Cell Center at Gladstone and then, in 2018, was selected to lead Gladstone as president.

June 2025 marks Srivastava’s 20th anniversary at Gladstone. The decades since he arrived have seen major expansion through the addition of two new institutes and dozens of new scientists unified by a mission to overcome disease. Here, we revisit key milestones along the way and look forward to the future he continues to shape.
