At Gladstone, the fundamental values of excellence, integrity, rigor, and respect are of the utmost importance, as they are in most great organizations. However, what makes Gladstone special is the set of core values that are perfectly aligned to our culture and guide our decisions.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
We know it takes a diverse group of empowered individuals to effectively use science to overcome disease.
Our
We encourage experts from different backgrounds to jointly tackle large problems and develop technologies needed to support our mission. We accelerate the pursuit of science by leveraging complementary scientific skills and exemplary administrative expertise. Above all at Gladstone, we champion highly interactive, creative, and innovative approaches to science as we seek prevention, treatments, and cures for major diseases.
At Gladstone, we think science is fun and we want to share our passion with those around us. We offer a variety of programs to fuel the curiosity of anyone from science enthusiasts to future scientists.
Gladstone Institutes was established in 1979 through a generous endowment from J. David Gladstone, who left his estate to support medical students interested in research. The trustees in charge of J. David Gladstone’s estate made some bold decisions to turn the original vision into something much larger that would have a huge global impact.
The Ogawa-Yamanaka Stem Cell Prize recognizes individuals whose original translational research has advanced cellular reprogramming technology for regenerative medicine. The prize was established in 2015 through a generous gift from the late Hiro and Betty Ogawa, and is supported by Gladstone Institutes and the Cell Press group. It also recognizes Gladstone Senior Investigator Shinya Yamanaka, who discovered induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells.
