Each year as part of the PUMAS (Promoting Underrepresented Minority Advancement in the Sciences) internship program, Gladstone Institutes welcomes a new cohort of ambitious students from community colleges to discover what it’s like to work in a scientific lab and foster their passion for scientific discovery.
In 2023, Gladstone hosted 11 interns, each of whom were paired with mentors in various labs and worked on a dedicated research project. At the end of the program, interns presented their research to Gladstone’s community at a poster session. Interns not only mastered lab protocols, but also honed their communication and other professional skills over the course of the summer.
