Convergence Seminar
Tuesday, July 28, 2026

Richard Bonneau, PhD

Vice President of Machine Learning for Drug Discovery, Genentech Computational Sciences

Richard Bonneau combines biophysics and computational methods to develop innovative approaches for biomolecular design and drug discovery. His background is in computational structural biology, with a current focus on advancing machine learning methods that accelerate drug discovery. He has also led teams developing computational frameworks for genomics data analysis, resulting in deep expertise in the inference and modeling of biological networks.

Today, his group integrates machine learning approaches with physics-based models of key biological processes to drive progress in molecular and biomolecular design. In addition, MLDD develops large language models (LLMs) at Genentech and across the Roche organization that support multiple stages of the medicine discovery and development pipeline.
