On October 14, 2016, Bruce Conklin, MD, a senior investigator at the Gladstone Institutes, was presented with the 2016 Distinguished Alumni Award from Case Western Reserve University, where he received his MD in 1988. The Distinguished Alumni Award recognizes outstanding alumni who have made a significant mark in the field of medicine and who have brought distinction to the School of Medicine at Case Western.
Conklin received the award at a Dean’s Society dinner held at the Global Center for Health Innovation in Cleveland, Ohio. The event welcomed alumni and friends of the School of Medicine with a reception to honor leadership donors, scholarship supporters, and reunion classes.
Conklin shares the honor of the Distinguished Alumni Award with many notable dignitaries, including Nobel Laureates Alfred G. Gilman, MD, PhD, and Ferid Murad, MD, PhD, former US Surgeon Generals David Satcher MD, PhD, and Jesse Steinfeld, MD, and former Director of the Center for Disease Control (CDC) Julie L. Gerberding, MD.
“I am honored to join a list of such remarkable individuals,” noted Conklin. “I was surprised to learn that I was unanimously selected for this award, and I am delighted to be recognized by my fellow alumni at Case Western.”
