Taha Taha

Research Investigator

Taha Taha, PharmD, PhD is a Research Investigator at the Gladstone Infectious Disease Institute. He’s also Adjunct Assistant Professor of Bioengineering at the UCSF School of Pharmacy. He received his Pharmaceutical Scientist Training at the University of Illinois Chicago where he discovered novel epigenetic regulators of hepatitis B virus replication.

Taha’s research program focuses on antiviral therapeutics development. He pioneered molecular systems that combine reverse genetics and deep mutational scanning to better understand virus biology and evolution at scale. His lab aims to identify evolutionary constraints in viruses, with the goal of exploiting those constraints by developing next-generation antivirals that have a higher barrier to resistance.
