Gladstone Science Talks
Tuesday, December 3, 2019

Yadong Huang, MD, PhD, Senior Investigator

Yadong Huang and his team focus on understanding the pathogenic mechanisms of apolipoprotein E4 (apoE4), the most important genetic risk factor for Alzheimer’s disease. Their work demonstrates that apoE4 is increasingly produced in neurons during aging and in response to stress and injury, and that apoE4 is broken down inside neurons into toxic fragments that can cause tau pathology and mitochondrial dysfunction. In addition, the group uses animal models and patient-derived induced pluripotent stem cells for Alzheimer drug discovery and development.
