Whether it’s Black History Month or any other time of the year, we think it’s a great time to support local Black-owned businesses. To help you show your support or satisfy your next craving, we’ve compiled a list with a few of our favorite restaurants across the Bay Area.

SAN FRANCISCO

Vegan Hood Chefs
Location: San Francisco

Vegan Hood Chefs specializes in turning classic soul food and other American favorites into delicious vegan meals. Located in Bayview–Hunters Point in San Francisco, Vegan Hood Chefs aspires to “provide healthy education and healthy vegan food for disenfranchised communities with their culinary work.” Currently, they are available for catering or delivery.

Sextant Coffee
Location: San Francisco

Located in SoMa, Sextant Coffee is the official coffee supplier to Google, Facebook, and Salesforce. Whether you want to grab a quick cup of coffee, or want fresh beans delivered directly to your home, Sextant Coffee is a great option. Sextant works with farmers across Ethiopia, Kenya, Colombia, and more to showcase the most flavorful coffees throughout the world.

Vegan Mob
Location: Oakland

Vegan Mob is located across the street from Lake Merritt in Oakland. Their mission is to provide nutritious food based on traditional soul food and barbeque recipes. The chef, Toriano Gordon, is a San Francisco native dedicated to helping at-risk and formerly incarcerated youth in the Bay Area.

Owner David Benton is a self-taught pastry chef who started his baking journey in his duplex kitchen in 2009. From cupcakes, to cookies, to wedding cakes, you can custom order sweet treats for your next event or at-home indulgence.
