In this 2-day workshop, you’ll learn the important practical and conceptual aspects of writing competitive grant proposals. The course will emphasize the “extra” things that can lead to a successful proposal.
This workshop is appropriate for investigators, postdoctoral researchers, and research operations staff who’ve already had some exposure to writing grant applications, either through training, mentoring, or personal experience.
An optional Overview of K Awards will be offered at the end of the first day. Sign up for this session when you register for the event.
The course is provided by Grant Writers Seminars and Workshops.

About the Speaker
Lauren Broyles received her PhD in nursing from the University of Pittsburgh. She also completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Addiction Health Services Research with the US Department of Veterans Affairs at the VA’s Center for Health Equity Research and Promotion.
Following her postdoc, she joined that center as a full-time research health scientist, where her research centered on determining the efficacy and implementation of alcohol risk reduction interventions in general medical settings. At that time, Broyles became a faculty member at the University of Pittsburgh with appointments in general internal medicine, clinical and translational science, and nursing. Additionally, at the VA she served as a site director and national coordinating center director for the Advanced Interprofessional Fellowship in Addiction Treatment.
In January 2016, she joined Grant Writers’ Seminars and Workshops full time as an associate member. Broyles has been awarded competitive extramural funding from the NIH, the Veterans Health Administration, and various non-federal foundation sources. She has served as a member of federal grant review panels, and as an associate editor for the journal Substance Abuse.
