What Is Mid-Autumn Festival?

Over 3,000 years ago, Mid-Autumn Festival was celebrated as a post-autumn harvest celebration and a time to thank the gods during the Shang dynasty in China. Now, the holiday is celebrated throughout the world by different countries, ethnic groups, and cultures—all celebrating in different ways. Read more about the holiday.

What Is a Mooncake?

A mooncake, a common food associated with the holiday, is a packed pastry that’s normally split into quarters and shared between families and friends. Traditional fillings include lotus seed paste, red bean, and salted egg yolk.
