Gladstone Science Talks

Todd McDevitt, PhD

Senior Investigator, Gladstone Institute of Cardiovascular Disease

During development, a single fertilized cell differentiates into specialized tissues, a process that requires a specific sequence of molecular and mechanical cues. In this seminar, Todd McDevitt will describe how his lab is engineering models of human development to elucidate those events, and how they can go wrong in disease.

Todd McDevitt’s research focuses on engineering technologies to direct the differentiation and organization of stem cells to create functional organoids and microtissues. His team is creating models of human tissues that can be used to study embryonic development and develop new approaches to treat diseases that afflict the cardiovascular, neurological, and immune systems.
