Luke Gilbert, PhD, Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Weissman Lab, UCSF

Luke started his scientific education at UCLA where he studied Toxoplasma gondii virulence factors and recieved a BS in microbiology and immunology. He then left the west coast to pursue a PhD at MIT studying cancer biology where he used mouse models of leukemia and lymphoma to study how the tumor microenvironment dictates tumor progression and drug response. Luke joined Jonathan Weissman's lab as a postdoctoral fellow at UCSF in 2012. He is a fellow of the Leukemia and Lymphoma society. At UCSF, Luke has repurposed a modified CRISPR system to control transcription blending functional genomics and synthetic biology approaches.
