Bin Zhou, MD, PhD

Bin Zhou received his MD in 2002 from Zhejiang University and PhD in 2006 from Peking Union Medical College. He started his postdoc training at Boston Children’s Hospital in 2006 with William Pu. In 2010, Zhou established his independent research group at Chinese Academy of Sciences in Shanghai. His research focuses on developing new genetic technologies to better understand cell origin and cell fate plasticity in organ development, tissue homeostasis, and diseases. The Zhou Lab is developing a dual recombinase-mediated genetic approach to elucidate in vivo cell fate with enhanced precision. For the achievements in deciphering coronary vessel origins and resolving the controversy over cardiac stem cells, Zhou received the Outstanding Investigator Award from the International Society for Heart Research in 2019.
