About
The PUMAS internship program encourages students from under-represented backgrounds, who are currently attending a community college, to pursue undergraduate and graduate degrees in the sciences, thereby expanding the number of diverse biomedical researchers. The program was established in 2014 by Gladstone’s Melanie Ott and Kathryn Ivey. It is funded by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute of the National Institutes of Health through a grant supporting educational activities that enhance diversity in biomedical, behavioral, and clinical research.
