On Saturday, September 19 the Alzheimer’s Association's Annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s was held at the Fort Mason Great Meadow in San Francisco. Gladstone was well represented at the Walk, where 17 members of its community participated and a total of $3005.
To raise funds for the Walk, Gladstone’s team sponsored a fun Smokin' and Bakin' Lunch and Raffle. The event featured great food and some terrific prizes for the raffle, and raised $1520!
The team was organized by Dr. Xu Chen (postdoctoral scholar, Gan lab), Dr. Biljana Djukic (staff research scientist, Mucke lab), Dr. Mark Evans (postdoctoral scholar, Mucke lab), Yaqiao Li (research associate, Gan lab), Ramsey Najm (graduate student, Huang lab), Dr. Maria Telpoukhovskaia (postdoctoral scholar, Gan lab), Dr. Tara Tracy (postdoctoral scholar, Gan lab), and Dr. Lihong Zhan (postdoctoral scholar, Gan lab).
The Walk not only brings together members of Gladstone, but it unites the entire community of more than 450,000 family, friends, co-workers, and more to combine their strength and dedication to fight Alzheimer’s disease. It is the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer's care, support, and research.
“Developing better treatments for Alzheimer’s disease is a major mission of the Gladstone Institutes,” said Dr. Lennart Mucke, director of the Gladstone Institute of Neurological Disease. “Our participation in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s shows that our scientists are committed to this mission not only through research, but also through community outreach. We fully understand the magnitude of this problem and will not rest until it has been solved.”
Our people are our most important asset. We offer a wide array of career opportunities both in our administrative offices and in our labs.
